Sources say a Taliban delegation has brought Juma Khan Fateh, a dissenting Taliban commander, to the city of Faizabad on Friday in an effort to resolve internal tensions within the group in Badakhshan.
According to the sources, Juma Khan Fateh agreed to travel to Faizabad only after receiving “guarantees” from Fasihuddin Fitrat, the Taliban’s Chief of Army Staff. Fitrat, accompanied by a Taliban delegation, traveled on Thursday to Nusay, Fateh’s stronghold and main base of operations, where he held talks with the commander.
The sources said the meetings were aimed at resolving disputes and easing tensions among Taliban officials in Badakhshan. However, no further details have been disclosed regarding any agreements reached between the two sides.
Meanwhile, a photograph obtained by the media shows Juma Khan Fateh alongside members of the Taliban delegation in Faizabad. The Taliban have not yet commented publicly on the matter.
