Ahmad al-Shara, the President of Syria, has stated that his country will not be involved in the U.S. and Israel’s war against Iran, unless Syria is directly attacked and no diplomatic solution is available.
In a ceremony held by the Chatham House think tank in London, the Syrian President said: “As long as Syria is not targeted by any party, Syria will stay away from any kind of war.”
He added: “We do not want Syria to become a battlefield. Unfortunately, today, things are not being managed by common sense. The situation is unstable and random.”
This conflict has spread across the region in the past month, resulting in thousands of deaths, disruptions to energy resources, and putting the global economy at risk of collapse. In response to a question about whether Syria will remain neutral in this war,
President al-Shara stated: “We want Syria to have ideal relations with the entire region, with Lebanon, Iraq, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and global powers like Britain, France, Germany, and the United States. I believe Syria has the conditions to create a network of strategic relations.”
