Local sources in Kabul say that Abdul Khaliq, a former employee of Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security (NDS), died on Thursday, the second day of Eid al-Adha, in Kabul city. According to the sources, the incident occurred in one of the city’s districts.
The sources reported that he was killed in the incident; however, no further details have yet been released regarding the circumstances surrounding his death. The relevant authorities have also not issued any official statement on the matter so far.
Sources close to his family say that Abdul Khaliq had been living in hiding in Kabul since the collapse of the former Afghan government and had previously expressed concerns about his personal security.
Meanwhile, the Taliban have not officially commented on the incident, and the case remains under investigation and follow-up.
In recent years, numerous reports have emerged concerning the arrest, disappearance, and killing of former government employees and security personnel in Afghanistan, an issue that has consistently raised concerns among human rights organizations.
