A new report by the UK-based Energy Institute indicates that Iran’s crude oil and condensate production increased in 2025, allowing the country to maintain its position among the world’s largest oil producers.
According to the report, Iran’s oil production in 2025 rose by 2.7 percent to 4.446 million barrels per day, representing an increase of 116,000 barrels per day compared with the previous year.
The published data shows that Iran accounted for 5.2 percent of global oil production, ranking as the fifth-largest oil producer in the world. The United States, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Canada ranked ahead of Iran.
This production increase was recorded despite the fact that, during Donald Trump’s second presidential term, the United States government has pursued policies aimed at increasing pressure on Iran’s oil exports and restricting the country’s oil revenues.
The Energy Institute report also indicates that, despite sanctions and economic pressures, Iran’s oil production capacity has not declined, and the country’s oil industry has managed to maintain its upward trajectory.
The global oil market in 2025 faced several challenges, including price volatility, shifts in production policies among major producers, and geopolitical developments, all of which influenced global oil supply and demand trends.
According to the assessment, Iran remains a significant player in the global energy market due to its substantial oil and gas reserves, strategic position in the Persian Gulf region, and influential role in the international energy sector.
