Summary

Iranian foreign minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, responding to new economic threats from U.S. president Donald Trump, said such measures are aimed at diverting public attention from the United States’ own financial problems and domestic crises.

In his latest remarks, Araghchi said that if Washington continues its previous and failed policies, the outcome will be another defeat for the United States and deeper hostility toward it among Iranians.

Referring to the latest figures from the U.S. Treasury Department, he said the country’s national debt has surpassed $40 trillion. According to Araghchi, instead of addressing its mounting debt and high interest rates, Washington is launching a new wave of economic pressure against Iran and other countries.

Araghchi described U.S. economic pressure on countries and trading partners as “economic terrorism,” saying that such measures not only affect Iran’s economy but also pose challenges to global financial stability and the national sovereignty of countries.

His remarks came after U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to impose unprecedented economic pressure and take decisive measures against Iran and its trading partners.
