Maryam Sama, a former member of the Wolesi Jirga (House of the People) of the former republican government, has said in response to the participation of a high-level Taliban delegation led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar and Amir Khan Muttaqi in the funeral ceremony of Iran’s religious leader that the event in Tehran has turned into a “gathering place for dictators and terrorists.”
In her remarks, Maryam Sama wrote: “Terrorists travel to Tehran to attend the funeral of one of the like-minded dictators.”
She added that Iran also issued free visas to a large number of Afghan citizens and nationals of other countries to attend the ceremony.
According to her, those who attend the event are either like-minded and ideologically aligned with these terrorists, or they are mocking themselves; because, in her view, Iran does not regard them as human beings and has repeatedly beaten, humiliated, tortured, and even killed Afghans inside Iran and at its borders.
Sama stated that despite such treatment, some individuals still attend the funeral of a dictator who, according to her, “has hands stained with the blood of thousands of people.”
These remarks come amid recent reports of increased incidents of violence and killings of Afghan migrants by Iranian border and security forces. According to recent reports, four residents of Nangarhar and one resident of Kapisa were also killed by Iranian border forces.
