Summary

Shah Mahmood Miakhel, the former Acting Minister of National Defense under Afghanistan’s former republic, has described Pakistan’s recent airstrikes as a clear violation of international law and called on international organizations to investigate the attacks as potential breaches of international humanitarian law and, where supported by evidence, as possible acts of genocide.

In a post on X, Miakhel wrote that Pakistan has repeatedly violated international law and has deliberately targeted civilians, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities.

He said Pakistan has once again carried out attacks inside Afghanistan in which civilians were deliberately targeted.

According to Miakhel, such actions must be unequivocally condemned, investigated as potential violations of international humanitarian law, and, if supported by sufficient evidence, examined as possible acts of genocide.

In his statement, Miakhel called on the United Nations, the European Union, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), UN human rights bodies, Amnesty International, and several international media organizations to take appropriate action and conduct an independent investigation into Pakistan’s recent attacks.
