Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban, said in response to recent remarks by Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar that Islamabad should not pin its domestic security problems on Afghanistan.
Mujahid stated on Friday that insecurity in Pakistan is a decades-old issue and has no connection to Taliban rule. He emphasized that the Taliban remain committed to their promises and will not allow Afghan territory to be used against any other country.
This reaction came after Ishaq Dar, speaking at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting, urged member states to encourage the Taliban to fulfill their counter-terrorism commitments and eliminate safe havens for armed groups in Afghanistan.
The Pakistani foreign minister had said that the threat of terrorism originating from Afghanistan poses a serious security challenge for Pakistan.
While the Taliban have once again denied the presence of any armed or "terrorist" groups in Afghanistan, several international organizations have stated in their reports that certain armed groups continue to operate within the country.
