Summary

The spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Enayatullah Alkozi, has stated that from now on, when answering phone calls, the order of Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban leader, regarding forced marriage will be broadcast.

He wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) page that this decision has been implemented under the direction of the ministry’s leadership, and its goal, according to him, is to reform society and raise public awareness.

Alkozi added that when people make phone calls, instead of the usual waiting tone or ringtone, a message related to forced marriage will be played by the telecom networks. He emphasized that this practice will continue in the future.

He claimed that this measure is being carried out to protect women’s rights and to clarify issues that, according to them, have been neglected.

Previously, during phone calls, music or women’s voices would be played while waiting, but now an official message will replace them.
