The Taliban-run National Disaster Preparedness Authority has announced that heavy rainfall and flooding over the past week claimed the lives of 34 people and injured 29 others across 15 provinces of Afghanistan.
According to the authority’s spokesperson, the natural disasters affected 4,462 families, while an additional 232 families were forced to evacuate their homes.
The authority reported that in Kabul, Paktia, Parwan, and several other provinces, 266 houses were completely destroyed and 817 others sustained partial damage.
Furthermore, the floods and heavy rains completely devastated more than 7,000 jeribs of agricultural land and crops, inflicting substantial financial and agricultural losses on local communities.
