Iranian media outlets have reported that Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, has arrived in Tehran alongside Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan’s Interior Minister.
According to Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Eskandar Momeni, Iran’s Interior Minister, received the two senior Pakistani officials upon their arrival in Tehran.
The report added that the Pakistani officials are expected to hold talks with Iranian officials on bilateral issues as well as “regional peace and security.”
Pakistan is the main mediator in negotiations between Iran and the United States and has been working to facilitate the resumption of talks between the two countries.
As part of Pakistan’s mediation efforts between Iran and the United States, the Pakistani army chief has previously visited Tehran twice.
