Summary

Mohammad Jawad Ajmal, Counsellor at Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, has accused India of supporting armed groups and using proxy networks in Afghanistan to fuel insecurity in Pakistan.

Responding to remarks by India’s representative at the United Nations, Ajmal said Islamabad had suffered the consequences of what it describes as India’s support for terrorism on Pakistani soil. He alleged that India supports groups, including Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), through its networks operating inside Afghanistan.

The Pakistani diplomat added that Islamabad had repeatedly warned the international community in recent years about what it considers India’s efforts to deepen divisions and undermine regional stability.

Ajmal also accused India of carrying out extraterritorial operations, claiming that its alleged activities extend beyond the region. He referred to reports of the assassinations of India’s opponents in foreign countries, describing these incidents as part of what he called New Delhi’s “illegal actions.”

However, Ajmal did not present specific evidence to substantiate these allegations in his latest remarks. India has not issued a fresh response to his statements. Nevertheless, Indian representatives have rejected similar allegations by Pakistan at previous United Nations meetings, accusing Islamabad of blaming India for its own domestic security problems.

The Pakistani representative further stressed that his country would take action to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the security of its citizens. He also called on the international community to take Islamabad’s allegations regarding India’s support for armed groups seriously.

Disagreements between India and Pakistan over terrorism, the activities of armed groups, and the alleged use of Afghan territory have repeatedly become points of contention between the two countries in recent years, including at international forums such as the United Nations.
