Masoud Pezeshkian has said that the Iranian government is fully subordinate to the decisions of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, and that if Ali Khamenei had ordered that no discussions or meetings should take place, then no sessions or negotiations would have been held.
Pezeshkian emphasized that it should not be assumed that the government and the armed forces are two separate structures, stating that all decisions are made under the supervision and guidance of the country’s leader.
Meanwhile, Iran, through its permanent mission to the United Nations, has issued an official letter to the Security Council and the General Assembly condemning recent remarks by Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Katz, describing them as an explicit threat to assassinate Iran’s leader.
The letter states that, according to Tehran, statements by Israeli officials are part of a systematic policy of “state terrorism,” and it is alleged that these actions are carried out with the coordination and support of the United States. Iran also stated that targeting senior officials of a country constitutes a clear violation of international law and the UN Charter, warning that any “hostile action” against Iran will be met with a swift and decisive response.
