The Afghanistan Cricket Board has announced that, following Hashmatullah Shahidi’s resignation, Rahmat Shah has been appointed as the new captain of the national team for One Day International (ODI) and Test matches, while Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been named vice-captain.
The decision was made one day after Hashmatullah Shahidi officially announced that he was stepping down from the captaincy due to a personal decision.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board stated that Rahmat Shah will assume leadership of the national team in ODI and Test formats, while Rahmanullah Gurbaz, in his role as vice-captain, will support him in managing and leading the team.
During his tenure as captain, Hashmatullah Shahidi led Afghanistan’s national team in 55 international matches, of which Afghanistan secured victories in 27 games.
The Afghanistan national team is expected to continue its preparations for upcoming international competitions under the new leadership.
