Nadiem Amiri, the Afghan-born midfielder of 1. FSV Mainz 05, has once again been called up to the German national team following his impressive performances in the current Bundesliga season, and has been included in Germany’s final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
German media outlets have reported that Julian Nagelsmann, the head coach of the German national team, selected the 29-year-old player for Germany’s final World Cup squad due to his remarkable displays this season. The tournament is scheduled to be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Nadiem Amiri was one of Mainz’s most influential players during the 2025–2026 season and finished as the team’s top scorer with 12 goals. His performances throughout the campaign also attracted the attention of the German national team coaching staff.
