Shahabuddin Delawar, head of the Taliban’s Commission for Contact with Afghan Personalities, warned that the collapse of the current administration could plunge Afghanistan into crisis and lawlessness. Speaking at a gathering in Kabul, he said there is no alternative to the Taliban administration.
Delawar claimed that, for the first time in 48 years, the Taliban administration has succeeded in eliminating divisions and internal disputes in Afghanistan, bringing everyone together under a single unified leadership. Responding to criticism over the concentration of power, he also said that the Taliban administration is not run solely by religious clerics.
The head of the Commission for Contact with Afghan Personalities also rejected calls for the formation of an inclusive government. Referring to previous political factions, he said: “Some advocate for the republic and an inclusive Afghan government, but which of the past factions ever had an inclusive government or democracy? In many of them, leadership simply passed from father to son.”
Delawar’s remarks come as the issue of forming an inclusive government remains a central topic in discussions about Afghanistan’s political future and continues to be a key demand of a number of domestic political groups as well as the international community.
