Local sources in Khost province say that Ehsan Saadat, a social activist, was arrested by the Taliban’s intelligence agency in Khost city four days ago.
A local source said that Ehsan Saadat is a supporter of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), a movement that advocates for the rights of Pashtuns living across the Durand Line.
According to the source, the reason for Saadat’s arrest remains unclear, and the Taliban’s intelligence agency has not provided his family with any explanation regarding the grounds for his detention.
Sources add that Saadat had previously been arrested twice by the Taliban’s intelligence agency.
According to the sources, Saadat works at an English language training center in Matun, the provincial capital of Khost.
The Taliban have previously faced criticism for detaining citizens without explaining the reasons for their arrests. Some sources say that a number of detainees remain in custody for extended periods without clarification.
