Some media outlets, citing informed sources in Badakhshan, have reported that Abdul Basir, the deputy of Jamah Khan Fateh a Tajik commander within the Taliban who has reportedly become dissatisfied has died under mysterious circumstances on the Jowzjan–Balkh route. According to these reports, the cause of death has been described as a traffic accident.

Sources say the incident occurred on the morning of Wednesday, 1 th of July , during which four of the deputy’s companions were injured. No further details have yet been released regarding the circumstances of the incident or the condition of the injured individuals.

According to sources close to Jamah Khan Fateh, he has described the incident as a “conspiracy” aimed at eliminating his close associates and has expressed suspicion about it. These sources also claim that he believes Mawlawi Ghulamullah, the Taliban brigade commander in Jowzjan, was involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Mawlawi Ghulamullah, one of the Taliban commanders from Badakhshan, was recently promoted by the group’s leader to the position of deputy of a division in Badakhshan a move that some sources interpret as an effort to manage internal disputes and balance power among local commanders.

The Puraana News Agency has stated that it cannot independently verify the authenticity of these reports, although some media figures in Badakhshan have circulated the information on social media.

These developments come amid reports that the Taliban’s Minister of Defense, Chief of Army Staff, and Director of General Intelligence have recently been present in Badakhshan. Their visits are said to aim at managing tensions and addressing the crisis stemming from internal disputes.

According to reports, a number of Badakhshan-based Taliban commanders have accused the group’s leadership of ethnic bias and exploitation of Badakhshan’s mineral resources, and have taken a stance against it. Some sources also claim that Taliban delegations are attempting to influence certain local commanders through financial incentives in order to mobilize them against Jamah Khan Fateh.
