Sources in Nahrin and Khost districts of Baghlan province say that the Taliban killed four local opposition commanders, including “Shams Kharabat” and “Baba,” during operations on Thursday night.
According to the sources, the operations were carried out in the Charsai area of Nahrin district and the Farghambol Valley in Khost district.
Pro-Taliban accounts on X also published images of the operations and the individuals who were killed, describing them as “rebels, evil, and corrupt.” The posts claimed that four armed opponents were killed during the operations.
According to the information available, Shams Kharabat was one of the prominent armed commanders in the area and, together with Commander Baba, operated in the Charsai area.
The Taliban have not yet officially released details about the operations or the individuals killed. However, Taliban supporters have claimed that those killed had been engaged in “subversive activities” in the area.
The incident comes amid longstanding reports and concerns from human rights organizations and the United Nations regarding the detention, torture, and killing of former security forces, armed opposition members, and Taliban critics since the Taliban returned to power.
The claims made by the sources regarding the incident have not yet been independently verified.
