Local sources report that Qudratullah Amini, the Taliban’s Deputy Governor of Kabul, survived an apparent assassination attempt.
According to sources who spoke to media outlets on Friday, June 5, at approximately 1:00 p.m., an individual allegedly intending to target Amini detonated explosive materials he was carrying near the deputy governor’s residence before reaching his intended target.
Videos circulating on social media show Taliban security personnel transporting an injured individual into a Ranger pickup truck. However, the identity of the person and any potential connection to the reported incident have not yet been independently verified.
As of the time of publication, no precise information has been released regarding the nature of the explosion, the number of casualties, or the extent of any resulting damage.
Qudratullah Amini, a native of Panjshir Province, previously served as the Taliban’s governor of Panjshir and currently holds the position of Deputy Governor of Kabul.
Taliban authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
