The Media Office of the Herat Provincial Governor’s Office says that a fire broke out among several vehicles at the Islam Qala Customs facility and was brought under control by firefighting teams.
According to a statement issued by the office, no casualties have so far been reported as a result of the fire. However, investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of the potential financial losses and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Meanwhile, videos circulating on social media show that the fire was extensive, with large amounts of smoke rising from the customs compound.
An eyewitness said that several tanker trucks also caught fire, although it remains unclear what type of goods they were carrying.
In another video, an eyewitness warns that fuel tankers are also parked in the area where the fire broke out. The witness cautions that if the fire is not fully extinguished, there is a risk that it could spread and cause further damage.
