The Taliban’s Ministry of Interior says it has seized weapons and ammunition during an intelligence operation in Dand Patan District of Paktia Province, which it claims were intended to be smuggled into Pakistan.
The ministry stated that the seized items include 8,000 rounds of small-arms ammunition, 12 hand grenades, 500 rounds of DShK ammunition, five pistols, and 50 rounds of ammunition for the pistols.
The Taliban said that no one has so far been arrested in connection with the incident, but added that, through their intelligence sources, they have identified the suspected individuals and efforts are underway to apprehend them.
The Taliban have not provided further details about the operation or the identities of the alleged arms smugglers.
