The 2026 FIFA World Cup has set a new historic record in terms of attendance. The total number of spectators has reached 3,605,357, surpassing the previous record set during the 1994 World Cup in the United States.
FIFA announced this record during the second half of the match between Germany and Ecuador. According to FIFA, although 48 matches remain in the tournament, the final attendance figure is expected to increase further.
Data indicates that the average stadium occupancy rate has so far exceeded 99 percent. Sports analysts say that despite high ticket prices and travel restrictions for citizens of certain countries, the strong turnout demonstrates that the FIFA World Cup remains the most popular sporting event in the world.
