The General Directorate of Passports of Afghanistan has announced that the Afghan passport has climbed 13 places in the latest global ranking. According to the directorate, these changes came as a result of reforms and updates made in the passport service process.
Based on the published information, the Afghan passport was ranked 116th in the world in 2021, but it has now risen to 103rd place. The directorate described the improved ranking of the Afghan passport as progress at the international level.
The Henley & Partners Index, which annually ranks the passports of countries based on global standards and travel accessibility, has considered Afghanistan’s rise as a sign of improvement in the global ranking.
The Henley & Partners Passport Index is regarded as one of the most credible passport evaluation systems in the world, and its rankings are based on the number of countries that passport holders can visit without a visa or with a visa on arrival.
