While migration has become a serious global crisis, the governments of Austria and Uzbekistan have signed a new agreement for the deportation of Afghan refugees.
According to reports, under this agreement, Austria will send a number of Afghan refugees to Uzbekistan, from where the process of returning them will be carried out. So far, officials from both countries have not released the full details of the agreement, but it is said that this measure has been taken to prevent illegal migration and to limit the asylum application process.
Meanwhile, some analysts say that this agreement between Austria and Uzbekistan to repatriate Afghan refugees is similar to the controversial and failed plan between the UK and Rwanda, which faced widespread criticism and legal obstacles.
They warn that such agreements for the transfer and deportation of refugees may conflict with international human rights standards, especially at a time when Afghanistan is still facing economic and security challenges.
