The Secretary-General of the United Nations reacted to the temporary ceasefire between the United States and the Islamic Republic.
Antonio Guterres welcomed the establishment of a two-week ceasefire between the United States and the Islamic Republic and urged all parties involved in the ongoing Middle East conflict to adhere to their international commitments.
He also called on countries to respect the terms of the ceasefire and create conditions for “achieving a lasting and inclusive peace in the region.”
The statement emphasized that ending the conflict is essential for protecting civilian lives and reducing human suffering.
Antonio Guterres also expressed gratitude for the efforts of Pakistan and other countries that played a role in facilitating this ceasefire.
