The 17th edition of the Taekwondo “Gol-e-Sorkh Cup,” held in honor of Afghanistan’s first Olympic medalist, Rohullah Nikpa, concluded with the championship victory of the Parwan province team. The competition, which featured athletes from various provinces across the country, was well-received by both the participants and Taekwondo enthusiasts.
In the team standings, the Parwan Taekwondo team secured first place with 16 points. Following them, the Jowzjan province team came second with 14 points, and the Balkh province team took third place with 10 points. Additionally, the Samangan province team ranked fourth with 9 points, while the Takhar province team finished fifth with 7 points.
In individual awards, Rahman Haidari from the Parwan province team was recognized as the best fighter of the tournament, scoring 152 points. This title was awarded to him by the organizing committee at the end of the competition.
Furthermore, Coach Ziaulhaq Ahmadi from the Parwan province team was named the best coach of the event. Mohammad Afzal from the Takhar province team was honored as the best technical player, while Master Syed Masood Rasa, a national referee of the Taekwondo Federation, earned the title of best referee of the competition.
The event organizers emphasized that such programs play a significant role in the growth of Taekwondo in Afghanistan, helping to identify outstanding talents and providing opportunities for the advancement of athletes’ skills in the future.
