The Herat Provincial Security Command has announced the discovery of a murder case and the arrest of three suspects in connection with the incident. According to officials, the individuals were identified and detained following comprehensive investigations conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department.
Based on initial findings, the suspects lured the victim and transported him to the Gorda Park area within the jurisdiction of the Fourth Security District, where they rendered him unconscious by giving him yogurt (doogh) mixed with sleeping pills.
Officials stated that after the victim was incapacitated, the suspects killed him with the intent of stealing his vehicle and other belongings, and subsequently buried his body in a concealed location.
Dr. Syed Masoud Hosseini said that security forces, after launching an investigation, located the burial site and arrested one of the suspects. He added that the two other suspects were also detained while attempting to flee the country via Nimroz Province and were subsequently transferred to Herat.
He further noted that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and identified robbery of the victim’s vehicle and possessions as the primary motive for the killing.
The Herat Police Command stated that once legal procedures are completed, the case will be referred to judicial and legal authorities for further proceedings.
