In Yaftal District of Badakhshan Province, a newly formed armed faction called the “Sipahiyan-e Mihan” (Defenders of the Homeland) has claimed responsibility for an attack on a Taliban security facility.
According to local reports, the attack took place on Friday morning, and it is reported that following the outbreak of fighting, the district center remained under the control of Taliban opposition forces for several hours.
The “Sipahiyan-e Mihan” faction, which had not previously announced its activities publicly, has claimed responsibility for an attack against the Taliban for the first time. So far, no reliable information has been released regarding the group’s leaders or organizational structure.
The faction has claimed that during the operation, it seized a number of weapons and other military equipment from the district.
These claims have not yet been independently verified. No official information regarding casualties has been released, and the Taliban have not issued any response to the reports so far.
