Summary

The Taliban’s Ministry of Justice has announced that a special court of the group has determined that 532 jeribs of land in Ghaibi Baba Township, located in Khair Khana Pass (Kotal-e Khair Khana) in Kabul’s 17th district, belong to the state. According to the ministry, this area constitutes more than half of the township’s total land.

In a statement published on its Facebook page on Tuesday, 23 Saratan, the ministry said the decision was issued by the Special Court for Addressing Cases of Usurped State Lands in the Central Zone.

According to the statement, the court reviewed documents and evidence related to more than 1,042 jeribs of land known as Ghaibi Baba Township and ruled that 532.11 jeribs of the land are state property.

The Taliban’s Ministry of Justice added that, after reviewing ownership documents submitted by occupants, reports from relevant commissions, property registry records, and information from related institutions, the court concluded that the land parcels had been registered and surveyed under the government’s name in four cadastral sections.

The Taliban said the identified state-owned lands have now been handed over to the Commission for the Prevention of Land Grabbing and the Recovery of Usurped Lands, where further steps will be taken in accordance with the established procedures.

Ghaibi Baba Township is located in the Khair Khana Pass area, in Kabul’s 17th district, along the Kabul–North Highway, and is considered one of the residential areas in this part of the city.

In recent years, the Taliban have also declared parts of Khair Khana’s land as state property. Reports have further indicated that some residential houses belonging to residents of the area have been demolished during road expansion projects, with some residents claiming that the demolitions were carried out without payment of proper compensation for land acquisition.
