According to reliable sources, the Taliban have temporarily released two imprisoned TOLO News journalists, Mansoor Niazi and Imran Danish, on bail for the Eid holidays.
The sources say that these journalists have only been released for a short period and will have to appear before Taliban courts after Eid to clarify the charges brought against them.
It is still unclear on whose guarantee they were released and for how long they have been handed over to their families, while TOLO News has not yet commented on the release of its employees.
It is worth noting that the Taliban arrested Mansoor Niazi, a news presenter and head of political and criminal programs at TOLO News, on 17th of Saur from the Sher Shah Mina (Karte Char) area of Kabul city, and Imran Danish, a news presenter and head of the political section, on 19th of Saur near the TOLO News office.
The spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture, Khobib Ghufran, confirmed the arrests on 22nd of Saur, stating that two TOLO News journalists had been detained by security forces a few days earlier.
In a statement from the spokesperson of the Ministry of Information and Culture, it was said that the journalists’ cases have not yet been completed and that the courts have not made any decisions regarding them so far.
