The Taliban’s Ministry of Interior has announced that its security forces discovered and seized millions of units of foreign currency belonging to various countries during an inspection of a passenger vehicle at the Hairatan port. The money had reportedly been skillfully concealed in different parts of the vehicle.
In a statement, the ministry said the seized currencies included €343,725, US$20,480, Canadian$78,585, Australian$59,900, New Zealand$14,750, £313,050, 42,550 Swiss francs, and 600,000 Saudi riyals.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Interior stated that the money was being illegally transported for smuggling purposes, but was discovered and confiscated as a result of a precise and professional operation by security forces.
The ministry added that the seized foreign currency had been handed over to the relevant authorities for legal processing.
The Taliban security forces emphasized that they would further strengthen their efforts to combat smuggling and other illegal activities at the country’s ports and border crossings, and would not allow anyone to violate the law.
