The United States men’s national team secured a 2–0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina in the FIFA World Cup Round of 32, advancing to the Round of 16.
Folarin Balogun and Malik Tillman scored for the United States, playing decisive roles in their team’s progression to the next stage.
With the victory, the United States recorded its first win in a World Cup knockout-stage match in 24 years. The Americans will now face Belgium in the Round of 16 in what is expected to be one of the most compelling fixtures of the tournament.
During the match, U.S. forward Folarin Balogun was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge on a Bosnia and Herzegovina defender. As a result, he will be suspended for the team’s upcoming Round of 16 clash against Belgium.
Despite playing with 10 men from the middle stages of the match, the United States maintained control of the contest. In the 82nd minute, Malik Tillman sealed the victory with a superb free-kick, ensuring a comfortable 2–0 win and sending the Americans confidently into the Round of 16.
