Summary

In the Hazarganji area of Quetta, the capital of Pakistan’s Balochistan province, three Afghan nationals were killed and another was injured in an armed attack by unidentified motorcycle riders.

The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon, 27 Asad (August 18), in the Sona Khan intersection area near Hazarganji.

Adil Shah, head of the Shalkot police station, said that five Afghan workers who had traveled from Afghanistan to Balochistan about a month ago were heading from Dalbandin toward Gulistan when they came under attack by unidentified armed men.

According to him, three people were killed, one was injured, and another escaped unharmed. Police said the bodies of those killed and the injured person were taken to hospital, and an investigation into the incident has been launched.

Police have not yet fully confirmed the identities of those killed but said that all of them were Afghan nationals. According to reports, the victims were residents of Helmand province.

The incident comes several days after Hazratullah Achakzai, a former Afghan National Police officer known as “Haji Woror,” was killed by unidentified motorcycle riders inside his shop in Quetta’s Hazarganji area.

Following that incident, Sami Sadat, leader of the anti-Taliban United Front, claimed that his forces had killed two Taliban intelligence members in Kandahar in retaliation for the killing of Hazratullah Achakzai.
