Summary

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has announced that American and Nigerian forces, in a joint operation, have killed “Abu Bilal Al-Minuki,” who is described as the second-in-command of ISIS worldwide.

Early this Saturday, April 26, local time, Trump said that this complex operation was carried out with full precision through the cooperation of the two countries’ forces.

The U.S. president stated that “Abu Bilal Al-Minuki” believed he could hide in Africa, but the U.S. has extensive intelligence resources that had been tracking his movements.

Trump also said that with the killing of this senior ISIS member, he will no longer be able to organize terrorist attacks in Africa or play a role in planning operations against American citizens. According to him, eliminating this key figure has significantly reduced ISIS’s operational capabilities worldwide.

He further expressed his appreciation for the Nigerian government’s cooperation in carrying out this operation.

The Nigerian government has also confirmed the killing of one of ISIS’s senior leaders in the country.

Bola Tinubu, the President of Nigeria, stated in a press release that the country’s armed forces, in close cooperation with the U.S. military, have dealt a heavy blow to ISIS.

The Nigerian army, in a statement, said that “Abu Bilal Al-Minuki” was one of ISIS’s senior leaders and among the group’s most active members globally, and that he was killed during this operation.
