Local sources have reported that a total of 60 police personnel were killed, wounded, or captured in yesterday’s attack by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on the “Khazana Band” police post in Hangu district.
According to the sources, 11 police officers were killed and at least 31 others were injured in the attack. The sources further stated that 18 police personnel were taken captive by individuals affiliated with the TTP.
The figures have not yet been independently confirmed by Pakistani officials, and no further details have been released regarding the condition of the injured or the status of those captured.
The attack comes amid growing concerns over worsening insecurity in Pakistan’s border regions, as TTP attacks have increased in recent months. The Pakistani government has repeatedly accused the Afghan Taliban of providing support to the group, an allegation the Taliban have denied.
Meanwhile, the TTP has released an image purportedly showing police personnel who surrendered at the Khazana Band post in Hangu district. The group claims that 10 police officers were killed, a large number were wounded, and several others were taken captive during the assault.
Pakistani authorities have so far issued no official response regarding the released images or the claims made by the TTP.
