Tajudeen Oyewale, UNICEF’s representative in Afghanistan, has announced that he met with senior officials of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to discuss expanding cooperation in Afghanistan.
According to him, the meeting focused on strengthening healthcare services, supporting children, and improving families’ access to essential services. Both sides exchanged views on ways to expand their joint cooperation in these areas.
Oyewale said that the Gates Foundation has supported UNICEF in the fields of primary healthcare, nutrition improvement, routine immunization programs, and polio eradication efforts.
He emphasized that the continuation of these expandingpartnerships can play an important role in healthcare services and increasing access to essential facilities for children and families.
Afghanistan remains one of the countries where the fight against polio is still ongoing, and international organizations continue to stress the importance of coordination and joint cooperation to eradicate the disease.
