The United Front, led by General Sami Sadat, has claimed that its forces attacked a Taliban checkpoint in the Owlad area of Deh Salah district, Andarab, Baghlan province, on Wednesday evening and seized the position following a clash.
According to the group, its fighters also captured a number of Taliban weapons and military equipment during the attack.
Local sources said the attack took place at around 10:20 p.m., approximately two kilometres from the district centre. The assault was followed by fighting between the two sides, with residents reporting the sound of gunfire and explosions.
The Taliban have not yet commented on the claim. Meanwhile, local sources say Taliban forces searched the homes of residents in several villages of Deh Salah district following the incident.
