Local sources in Ghor Province report that a former security officer, identified as Sirajuddin, was killed by unidentified armed men near his residence.
According to the sources, the former police officer, who was reportedly a close associate of Mohammad Ibrahim Malekzada, was killed on Monday, 18 Jawza, in the village of Pay Hisar in Tiwara District, Ghor Province.
Local sources further state that since the Taliban’s return to power, ten individuals closely associated with Mohammad Ibrahim Malekzada including several members of his family have been killed in separate incidents.
Mohammad Ibrahim Malekzada was widely regarded as a prominent figure in the anti-Taliban resistance movement in Ghor Province. He played a significant role in combating the Taliban in previous years, served for a period as a representative of Ghor in Afghanistan’s parliament, and passed away during the winter of 2018–2019 (1397 in the Afghan solar calendar).
In recent years, some families of former military and security personnel have accused the Taliban of involvement in the killings of their relatives. The Taliban have rejected these allegations, repeatedly asserting that, in accordance with their general amnesty decree, no retaliatory actions are being taken against former government forces.
Nevertheless, reports of the killings of local commanders, former security personnel, and individuals opposed to the Taliban have continued to emerge from various parts of Afghanistan. In many of these cases, responsibility for the attacks has been attributed to unidentified armed assailants, while no further details regarding the perpetrators have been disclosed.
