Ayanna Pressley, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, described the Israeli raid on the “Samoud” global flotilla in international waters as a “clear violation of international law” and called for an end to the blockade of Gaza.
She stated that during this incident, at least 175 civilians, including several American citizens, were detained.
According to a statement from the “Samoud” flotilla, Saif Abu Kashk and Thiago Avila, after being separated from other activists, were subjected to torture and remain in detention without formal charges.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation also called the incident a “new crime.” At the same time, a spokesperson for the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights demanded the immediate release of those detained.
