Summary

The Afghanistan united front has claimed that, in its latest alleged operation, it killed a member of the Taliban intelligence service in Qaisar district of Faryab province. The front released a video claiming that the operation was carried out as part of its ongoing military activities against the Taliban.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 4, the group said that the person killed was a member of the Taliban’s intelligence network. The statement included the following message: “Oppression, injustice, and attacks on the dignity and honor of Afghans will not go unanswered.”

The video released by the Afghanistan United Front shows the bloodied body of an individual lying on the ground, with a firearm visible nearby. However, the identity of the person killed and the details surrounding the incident have not been independently verified.

As of the time of publication, Taliban officials had not commented on the claim, and independent sources have not confirmed the accuracy of the details released by the Afghanistan United Front.

Led by Sami Sadat, a former Afghan army commander, the Afghanistan United Front announced on Saturday, August 1, that it had launched military operations against the “Taliban and other terrorist groups” in Afghanistan.

Since announcing the start of its military activities, the group has repeatedly claimed responsibility for operations in the provinces of Badghis, Helmand, Kandahar, and Faryab. The Taliban have not responded to some of these claims, and independent verification of many of the reports has not been possible.
