According to a new agreement between the Taliban’s Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock and Kabul Municipality regarding the transfer of state-owned land, the land of six townships located in various districts of Kabul and surrounding areas has been handed over to Kabul Municipality to strengthen urban order and prevent illegal construction.
Nematullah Barakzai, spokesperson for Kabul Municipality, stated that these townships include Jannat Gul Khan Township in District 21, Sardar Mohammad Daoud Khan Township in District 14, Mirwais Township in District 8, Dawlatzai Township in Bagrami District, and Alawuddin and Habibullah Zazai Townships in District 22.
According to Kabul Municipality, these areas will henceforth be registered as the official property of the municipality and will be utilized for the city’s planned development and the implementation of urban projects.
Officials say that state-owned lands are verified and assessed by a special court and the Commission for the Prevention of Land Grabbing, and areas identified as government property are subsequently transferred to the municipality.
Kabul Municipality stated that these six townships were confirmed as state-owned land following legal procedures and technical evaluations and have now been formally designated for urban development purposes.
