Summary

Ahmad Massoud, the leader of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, has called on the country’s youth and elders to join and register with the group in order to “save Afghanistan from foreign occupation.”

The Resistance Front leader said that “the victory and salvation of Afghanistan are near” and urged people to stand alongside the resistance forces and contribute to a free and independent future.

Ahmad Massoud’s latest appeal has been described as unprecedented in nearly the past five years. Although he had previously called on the Afghan people to unite and show solidarity against the Taliban, this is the first time he has directly asked people to register for joining the Resistance Front. Observers view this move as a possible sign of new political and military developments in the country.

Ahmad Massoud had also recently spoken about the possibility of upcoming changes in Afghanistan.

At the same time, the Afghanistan Freedom Front announced in recent days that it has deployed its commando forces in Badakhshan Province and several other provinces and plans to launch large-scale military operations against the Taliban.

This comes as the Taliban have repeatedly warned in recent weeks about the activities of opposition groups. According to informed sources, the group has also deployed part of its reserve forces in northern Afghanistan.

Over the past nearly five years, the Taliban, in addition to not being officially recognized by the international community as the legitimate government of Afghanistan, have also failed to reduce crises such as poverty, unemployment, and migration. Critics also accuse the group of implementing discriminatory policies, imposing widespread social restrictions, and providing shelter to transnational terrorist groups — issues that, according to them, have increased the risk of further instability in Afghanistan.

Political observers say the Taliban have failed to use the opportunity they gained to properly govern the country and improve social conditions, or to place Afghanistan on a path toward stability and development.

According to some analysts, increasing domestic dissatisfaction, widespread pressure and restrictions on citizens, concerns among regional countries about security threats originating from Afghanistan, as well as the deep economic crisis and hunger, could pave the way for major and widespread developments in the country’s future.
