Summary

Amrullah Saleh, former First Vice President of Afghanistan, has described Hasib Panjshiri, in reaction to his killing, as a fighter for the national aspirations of millions of Afghans aspirations that, he said, are currently being held “in captivity.”

In a post on X on Friday, 30 Asad, Saleh wrote that Hasib Panjshiri fought courageously and became an unforgettable “legend and epic.”

According to Saleh, Panjshiri began his struggle as an ordinary soldier, but the people later bestowed upon him the title of a “brave and devoted commander.”

Saleh said that Hasib Panjshiri was a figure who had “emerged from among the people and from the heart of this land,” adding that, in his view, this description fully reflected who he was.

He further stated that Panjshiri earned a place of historical honor and dignity and fulfilled his duty toward his people and homeland beyond the limits of his human capacity.

Amrullah Saleh extended his condolences to Hasib Panjshiri’s family over his death and said that his memory would always be honored with respect.
