German police have reported that in the town of Hersching in Bavaria, a 40-year-old Afghan man was killed in a refugee accommodation center after being stabbed by another Afghan man.

According to German media reports, the incident occurred following an altercation between two Afghan asylum seekers at the reception facility. Preliminary police findings indicate that a 36-year-old Afghan man drew a knife during the confrontation and repeatedly attacked the victim.

Eyewitnesses stated that the victim sustained severe injuries to the head and liver region. Despite the efforts of emergency responders and medical staff to save his life, he later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

Police said the suspect was arrested without resistance from his accommodation container. Authorities further noted that a court has ordered his provisional detention and transfer to prison.

The criminal police and the public prosecutor’s office have launched extensive investigations to clarify the motive and all other aspects of the incident.
