Summary

Local sources in Bamiyan report that armed Kuchis attacked the village of “Tobak” in the Pushta Gharghari area of Panjab district in the province, severely beating three farmers.

According to the sources, the three individuals were assaulted “to the point of near death” on Tuesday, 16 June, after they attempted to prevent the Kuchis’ herds from entering their farmlands.

The sources further state that the armed men subsequently stormed the villagers’ homes, opened fire on the houses, and as a result, several families were forced to flee their residences.

The individuals who were beaten have been identified as Mohammad Hussain, Jafar, and Alidad. They were transferred to the district hospital in Panjab for treatment.

Sources say that the condition of two of them is relatively stable, while the condition of the third is critical.

Images obtained by media outlets reportedly show injuries, wounds, and bruises on their bodies.

Armed Kuchis had also attacked the village of Zarsang in Panjab district ten days earlier, injuring five residents.

Farmlands and homes in Panjab, Bamiyan have repeatedly come under attack in the past by armed Kuchis and their livestock.

In July 2025, following a legal ruling in favor of the Kuchis, the Taliban forcibly displaced 25 families from the village of Rashk, located near Tobak in Panjab district, Bamiyan province.

The forced displacement of residents from this village sparked widespread domestic and international reactions, with some political groups describing it as an act of “ethnic cleansing.”
