Some residents of Paktika Province have claimed that a planted mine exploded in front of the home of an elderly man in the province, resulting in injuries to the homeowner and his son.
According to local residents, the incident occurred when the elderly man was opening his house gate early in the morning. They add that the mine attached to the gate detonated at that moment, injuring both individuals.
Locals claim that personal enmities and disputes lie behind the incident. They also say that, given the security situation in the area, such explosive devices are beyond the reach of ordinary people and, in their view, “without the involvement of influential local figures, placing a mine would not be possible.”
So far, no precise information has been released regarding the condition of the injured, and the exact location and circumstances of the incident remain unclear.
