Summary

Forty-two new mines containing precious and semi-precious stones have been identified and verified in Panjshir Province a development that could pave the way for increased investment and job creation in the region.

According to published information, these deposits include 28 emerald mines, 12 green garnet mines, and two tourmaline mines, all discovered across the districts of Anaba, Khenj (Hisa-i-Awal), and Paryan.

Economic experts note that initiating extraction processes at these sites, alongside attracting investment to the mining sector, could help generate employment opportunities and boost economic activity in Panjshir.

Panjshir Province is recognized as one of Afghanistan's key regions with significant potential in precious and semi-precious gemstones. Emerald, tourmaline, green garnet, and aquamarine (beryl) are among the province's most vital mineral resources.

However, experts emphasize that the effective exploitation of these resources will require investment, proper management, and adherence to technical and environmental standards.
