In Nimroz, the Taliban have arrested eight people on allegations of membership in the “Sepahian-e Mihan front.”
The Taliban’s information and culture directorate said the individuals were arrested on “terrorism” charges and that their cases were referred to the courts after an investigation.
Local sources say the detainees were deported from Iran and returned to Afghanistan about three weeks ago. According to the sources, the insignia of the “Sepahian-e Mihan Front” was found on their mobile phones.
Sources added that the Taliban subjected the detainees to beatings after their arrest. According to available information, the detainees are originally from Takhar and Badakhshan provinces.
The “Sepahian-e Mihan Front” has not yet commented on the arrests. The group is considered a newly formed armed faction opposed to the Taliban. It previously claimed that it had taken control of Yaftal-e Payin district in Badakhshan from the Taliban for several hours.
