At the Ministry of Interior of the Taliban, a meeting chaired by Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani was held with the aim of ensuring the security of Ashura ceremonies.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Abdul Matin Qani, said that the meeting took place on Wednesday, the 27th of the month of Jawza, and was attended by deputy ministers, department heads, and officials from various directorates. In addition to security matters, other relevant issues were also discussed during the meeting.
Qani added that Sirajuddin Haqqani emphasized the need to take serious and necessary measures to ensure the safety of citizens during the month of Muharram.
He said: “Serious efforts must be made to strengthen the personal and social security of the people, and all security forces must increase their efforts to strengthen public trust.”
The meeting also addressed the provision of technical equipment for the Department for Combating Crime, as well as improving the professional capacity of its staff.
